Dear Cathy,

Ben has great respect for the animals inhabiting the arctic and the whole expedition is centred around minimising the environmental impact on the area. A firearm is an absolute last resort if all other methods have failed, and is usually merely fired into the air as a way of scaring bears away. Ben also possesses a number of flares, among other non-violent bear deterrents, and these should be more than enough to discourage the more inquisitive locals.

I started this Boys Club in 1958, and Lord John Hunt of Everest fame was our President/Patron. I am now a state pensioner, but my heart goes out to you Ben.
